$100,000 now available in Playford Alive grants
A grant pool of $100,000 is available for community groups and not-for-profit organisations that operate within and just outside the Playford Alive urban renewal project area (Smithfield Plains, Davoren Park, Munno Para, Andrews Farm).
Housing Minister, Jennifer Rankine today called for submissions for the fourth round of the Playford Alive Initiatives Fund which follows previous funding of more than $445,000 to local sporting, recreational, social and cultural organisations.
"This initiative provides a great opportunity for groups in and around the Playford Alive project area and with a strong commitment to the community, to turn their ideas into reality," Ms Rankine said.
"The fund enables community groups and not-for-profit organisations to apply for grants to help sustain or develop community projects and activities which will have a positive impact on the community."
Playford Council Mayor Glenn Docherty, who is also Chair of the Initiatives Fund Management Board, welcomed the fourth round.
"The Board is expecting quality applications that are going to benefit the Playford Alive project area," Mayor Docherty said.
"The diversity of applications from previous rounds has been very encouraging and the Board has confidence in this trend continuing with the next call for submissions.
"The Live Training set up by the Little Glory Baptist Church to enable local people who are unemployed to develop skills, is the kind of example funded from the third round of grants that we are looking for from other groups."
The closing date for submissions is 21 October 2011 and to be considered, applicants must provide some form of matching funding towards submitted projects. This can include in-kind support such as volunteer contributions, a financial contribution or professional services that have been secured.
The Playford Alive Initiatives Fund receives 1 percent of the price of sales from land sold in the Playford Alive project area.
