Size
Playford Alive covers approximately 1,000 hectares including more than 500 hectares of new development.
Location
Just 30 kilometres north of Adelaide, 8 kilometres to Gawler, and at the gateway to the Barossa Valley.
Timeframe
This is an ongoing project that will take around 10-15 years.
Population
At the moment there are 13,000 people. By the time the project’s finished there will be around 40,000 people living in the new community.
Open space
Over 70 hectares will be dedicated to parks, wetlands and reserves – all linked with kilometres of bike and walking trails.
Sport and recreation
Residents will enjoy improved sports grounds and facilities that will be safe and convenient, along with brand new and upgraded sporting clubs.
Education
Playford Alive will be at the centre of a new era in education and learning in the northern suburbs. Four new state-of-the-art schools will be built, offering better public and private education. New childcare centres and adult education opportunities will also be available to all.
Business
Playford Alive will drive major investment in infrastructure, training and services in the northern suburbs, creating jobs for thousands of South Australians.
Shopping
A new town centre with shops, cafés and services, plus local neighbourhood shops, are sure to provide residents with plenty of choice and variety.
Transport
Playford Alive will be convenient and easy to access, being close to Main North Road and the new Northern Expressway. Expanded bus services, improved train services, dedicated bike trails and a new transit interchange designed for safety will also make it easy to get around.
Community
Community development, including activities and events, will help strengthen community life, community leadership and general wellbeing.
Safety
Improved street design, positioning of housing, lighting and community programs have been designed to contribute towards improved safety and crime prevention.
Environmental
Trees, footpaths, plants and natural wetland areas will make Playford Alive green and attractive. All new homes will follow sustainable building guidelines and will be connected to a recycled water system.

There will be a wide range of housing on offer to suit everyone – from new land blocks and new homes and apartments to refurbished homes in both existing and new suburbs. Residents can also make the most of high-speed broadband connections in all new homes.
